US Military Leaders, Editors Continue to Come Out Against Donald Rumsfeld

Gilford, NH (PRWEB) October 9, 2006

Recently on Capitol Hill, three retired US military officers criticized Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s handling of the War in Iraq, and added their voices to the call for Rumsfeld’s resignation.

Major General John Batiste, Major General Paul Eaton, and Colonel Paul Hammes each spoke to a specific, critical failure related to the War in Iraq, and each laid the blame at Rumsfeld’s doorstep.

At the Democratic-sponsored event, Batiste took Rumsfeld to task for ignoring the “certainty” of an Iraqi insurgency and selling an overly optimistic picture of the war to the American people. Eaton spoke to Rumsfeld’s failure to put enough troops on the ground to make the War in Iraq a success. And Hammes addressed the failure to provide US troops with the right equipment for their work, paying special attention to the recurring issue of armor for soldiers and their vehicles.

After viewing reports of this testimony on CNN American Morning, DeadBrain.com editor (and the grass roots maestro behind http://www.RumsfeldDiaries.com) Allen Voivod said, “Every day, more prominent soldiers, citizens, government officials, editorial boards, celebrities, and pundits call for Rummy’s resignation. What Batiste, Eaton, and Hammes spoke about constitutes only a fraction of Rummy’s failures.

“What are we waiting for? Do we need something worse to happen? Wake up, Bush Administration – we need new leadership at the Pentagon. Rummy has to go!”

About The Rumsfeld Diaries Political Action Pak

The Rumsfeld Diaries Political Action Pak takes aim at Donald Rumsfeld on all fronts – satire (by mocking US-Iraqi relations and Rumsfeld’s two decades of deep involvement in them), politics (by demanding Rumsfeld’s resignation), and activism (by providing easy-to-use tools and resource guides for grass-roots action, and financial support for Amnesty International USA and Human Rights First). You may have not intended to do so, but I think you have managed to express the state of mind that a lot of people are in. The sense of wanting to help, but not knowing how or where, is something a lot of us are going through.
